Shutter Squad

Shutter Squad

Run by Emma Rogan–a professional photographer and library assistant in the Children's Department–and Kevin Rogan–a librarian specializing in technology and digital media at the Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library–Shutter Squad is a photography program for tweens between the ages 10-13.

Over six sessions, participants learn the principles of photography using professional equipment in a collaborative, hands-on classroom setting, and hone their skills by taking photos during outings with the instructors. Students are also able to bring a camera home after class, which enables them to discover and develop their own unique styles by capturing scenes from their everyday lives.

Made possible with the generous support of the Leo Cox Beach Philanthropic Foundation and the New York State Council on the Arts-Folk Arts Program, Shutter Squad is the perfect way for young photographers to express themselves, document their worlds, and build confidence and creativity! To sign up, contact Emma at erogan@sals.edu or (518) 792-6508 Ext. 277.
