All hiring is performed in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law and the Municipal Civil Service Rules for Warren County. All positions in the Library are based on specifications for job titles that have been adopted by the Warren County Civil Service. All candidates must meet the minimum requirements as specified in the job description and pass the required test to be considered for the position. Labor class positions (Library Page and Cleaner) do not require a Civil Service test.

Librarian I
$47,507 annually plus benefits

Crandall Public Library is seeking an energetic and creative F/T Librarian I to work in a busy Teen Center setting, provide subject expertise in Young Adult collections and resources, and to act as programming lead for patrons ages 13-19. The successful candidate will work with Teen Center staff to develop and implement large and small group programs that appeal to teen patrons' varied learning styles, energy levels, and interests. They should expect to present or provide support on several weekly programs for teens and to make occasional visits to area schools and community events as a Library representative. The candidate will work under the supervision of a Teen Services Librarian II as a part of the larger Youth Services department. The ability to build a rapport and connect empathetically with a large teen patron population with diverse needs is crucial to this position. The candidate must have excellent customer service skills, crowd control skills, and time management skills, be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and exercise sound professional judgment. This position includes night and weekend hours. Sustainable Library Initiative participant.
Minimum qualifications: Master’s Degree in Librarianship (MLS or MSIS) from a library school that is accredited by the American Library Association or recognized by the NYS Education Department as following accepted education practices; and eligibility for a NYS Public Librarian’s professional certificate at the time of application; possession of certificate at the time of appointment.
Position will be filled based on Civil Service requirements. Note: This will be a provisional appointment. Permanent appointment will be contingent upon successful completion of a civil service examination and becoming reachable on the resulting eligible list.

Part-time Library Page
$15.86 per hour (2024 Rate)
Crandall Public Library is currently taking applications for the position of Library Page. For
further information about the position, please see the attached job description.
The ideal candidate must be able to work flexible hours, which may include mornings, evenings,
and weekends. They must also have a working knowledge of the organization of library
materials; Working knowledge of operation of basic library equipment; Ability to understand and
carry out simple oral and written directions; Ability to get along with patrons and fellow staff
members; Ability to place things in alphabetical and Dewey Decimal order; Ability to perform
close detail work; Ability to follow a prescribed routine; Ability to work in a dusty environment;
Ability to perform simple e-mail functions; Ability to perform basic searching functions on the
public access catalog; Accuracy in organizing material.
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. This includes lifting objects
such as books and supplies up to 15 lbs., and pushing heavy carts of books.
