Read/Run for Literacy 5K

The Read/Run for Literacy 5K took place in Saratoga Springs on Sunday, June 13, a fundraiser for Literacy Northeastern New York. Crandall Public Library had over a dozen participants! We ran, walked, or volunteered, all dressed as characters from the book Mary Poppins.

Dorie Stevenson of the Children's Department took first in her age group. Christine McDonald placed second in her age group, and page Emily Forbes succeeded in running and finishing her first race. The group won for best-costumed group, and included Chimney Sweep Bert and the Cook (handing out water), two dancing penguins (running), Mary Poppins (running) Mrs. Banks, with Jane and Michael (walking) and non-costumed team members wearing shirts with quotes from the book.
